Prostate cancer prevention
Some factors that can increase the risk of cancer can be influenced by yourself:
- Try to reach or maintain normal weight.
- Be physically active.
- Eat healthy, take lots of herbal products and reduce your meat consumption, especially eat little red meat.
- Consume only moderate alcohol.
Tomatoes, soya and cabbage
In regions with a soy diet, hormone-dependent tumors such as prostate cancer occur more rarely, which is attributed to the high proportion of so-called isoflavones in soy products. The red dye lycopene, which is predominantly found in tomatoes, but also in water melons and strawberries, and a diet rich in fish or olive oil, is also associated with a preventive effect; However, the existing study data on prostate cancer are not clear.
Vegetable and spice plants, which belong to the cruciferous plants (various cabbages, radishes, turnips, radish, cress, mustard, oilseed rape, etc.) have a proven, albeit slight preventative effect against prostate cancer. This is attributed to the contained mustard oils, which inhibit the division of tumor cells.
Food supplements – isoflavones, minerals such as selenium, vitamins, etc. – do not, according to current knowledge, protect against prostate cancer. There was even evidence of a slight increase in the risk of cancer for the intake of folic acid.
Lawn mowing against cancer
Sports and other physical activity significantly reduce cancer risk, studies have shown clearly! Men who are not physically active should exercise physically on 45 to 60 minutes (eg golfing, gardening, cycling) until 4 to 5 days per week (football, swimming).
Regular preventive examinations
Recognized early is better healed. This also applies to prostate cancer. Therefore, do not wait for complaints to occur, but take part regularly in an examination for the early detection of prostate carcinoma.
